Hello,
I have a 5 year old Heat & Glo Tiara II gas stove. We burn LP. When first lighting it, the pilot ignites fine. I switch the main flame on, and it burns for about 20 seconds, then both main flame and pilot go out. After going through this sequence for 5 or 6 times, the main flame finally stays on and the stove works fine. Any idea what would cause this?
Thanks. ...
<< MORE >>Customer has a Lennox brand open faced fireplace with pre-installed gas log set (as opposed to a solid fuel appliance which has been altered to accept gas logs. The unit is a B Vent and does not have glass (or the screen required by code).
Between 20-30 minutes after igniting the unit would shut off and then turn back on after some time elapsed. The technician on site was able to duplicate the issue. As the unit was shutting off the unit made a clinking noise which was consistent with a high limit switch being activated. The switch was located. Using a infrared thermometer the temperature at the location of the switch was taken and it was determined that the switch should not have been triggered. The switch was easily replaced by removing two hex head screws and two spade connect wires. and then reconnecting the new switch.
Customer contacted us because there Whitfield Advantage Pellet stove would not ignite. After using a multi-meter to determine that the control panel and the fuse were functioning properly it was determined that the igniter needed to be replaced.
Removal of the igniter requires the fan to be removed first. On first attempt at removing the igniter it was obviously stuck and required the use of a breaker bar. Once loose the igniter should have removed easily, however the prior installer did not apply anti-seize and cross threaded the igniter.
Removal of the igniter required the use of a 1/4" nut driver inserted through the front of the unit applying pressure to the nut driver using a wonder bar. The wires were then cut off the igniter and a 5/8" socket was used over the igniter. With one tech applying pressure at the front side of the unit pushing on the igniter it eventually came out.
Using a 1/4" 18 NPT Tap the unit was rethreaded and the new igniter installed by screwing it back into place (after applying the anti-seize.)
